Here are five fun things you can do over your Memorial Day weekend.

Memorial Day is on the horizon, and since Jacksonville is such a big military town, it’s very important for us Jacksonvillians. That’s why I wanted to talk about a few fun ways you can spend your Memorial Day weekend:

1. Have a cookout. My grandpa served as a marine in World War II, so my family always has a big cookout on Monday around noon. We make all his favorite dishes as a tribute to him. 

2. Join a golf tournament. I’m a big golfer, and there are tons of Memorial Day weekend scrambles around Jacksonville. A lot of them donate to charities like the Wounded Warrior Project.

3. Go to the beaches. Whether it’s Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, the beaches are always packed over Memorial Day weekend. We should have some great weather, too.

4. Check out the Riverside Arts Market. They always have tons of vendors, local produce, other food, and probably even a few breweries. It’s always a good time.

5. Watch the Memorial Park Concert. At 6:30 p.m. on Monday, the city puts on a free concert at Memorial Park. You can bring some folding chairs or a blanket and enjoy the free entertainment.
