The FTC’s recent case against an iBuyer and how it affects your options.

There has been recent news in the real estate market that I believe you need to know about immediately, and you can read all about it by Googling “FTC iBuyer.” In this news, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has charged an iBuyer company for misrepresentation, and that company has recently settled for $62 million. I’m telling you this because I don’t want you to get caught in any misrepresentation.

In short, that company wasn’t being truthful about the amount of money a seller would get for selling their home through them. The FTC did a study and found that countless people were not getting what they were promised and that false advertising was being used.

“Find an agent who will be on your side, and that will make all the difference.”

This is why I encourage you to beware of iBuyers. Not all are bad, of course, but remember that these companies want to make money off of you. Their loud advertising is a lot different than people like me who just want to have a conversation with you instead of pressuring you into anything. This is my business, and I do need to make money, but I want what’s best for you.

An additional problem with this company is that they were targeting elderly people. Again, these poor people were out thousands of dollars because of this misrepresentation. That is why I encourage you to find someone local that you can talk to face-to-face. Find an agent who will be on your side, and that will make all the difference.

I would love to help you in any way that I can, including keeping you educated on the market and answering any questions you may have. Call or email me; I would love to hear from you.
